Key Indiana Statutes
In Indiana, a landlord generally must return the security deposit within 45 days after termination of the rental agreement and delivery of possession, together with an itemized written notice of any deductions mailed to the tenant at the forwarding address supplied by the tenant.
If a landlord fails to comply with Indiana’s security-deposit rules, the tenant may be able to recover the amount wrongfully withheld, together with reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs, in the right case.
